Digestive System
Digestive problems account for nearly half of complaints in the clinic. Many
people suffer with constipation, diarrhoea, heartburn, bloating, flatulence,
abdominal pains and nausea. These are all signs of inadequate digestion which
can be attributed to bad food choices, chemical food additives, food
allergies/intolerances, dysbiosis and parasites. Also stress upsets the
digestion of our foods, when we eat enzyme production slows down in response to
the stress which results in the food not being fully digested.
Poor digestive function can be the root cause of many health problems. Skin
conditions, inflammatory conditions and some respiratory problems can be the
result of poor assimilation of food. Good elimination from the bowel is also
important for good health, as conditions like arthritis, skin problems and
migraine can be caused by the build up of toxins within the body. Also 70% of
the immune system is active within the digestive tract and can be depleted when
toxins and undigested food build up in the system.
Treatment can involve detoxing, nourishing and strengthening the body,
following a dietary programme, herbal remedies and nutritional supplements.
